Conference of the Scientific Student Circles (TDK) — 2025 Spring

In contrast to the previous TDK conferences, the 2025 spring edition will be held on the Szombathely campus instead of the Budapest one, in a hybrid format. Pre-registration is required for accommodation (see below for details).
PAPER SUBMISSION (=REGISTRATION)
Send your paper to tdk@tatk.elte.hu until 22 April 2025 (23:59). In all cases, the TDK secretary will acknowledge by e-mail the receipt of your application. If you do not receive a reply within one working day, please contact the TDK secretary to ensure that your paper does not accidentally get into the spam folder of the mail system.
Please include the following in the email sent with your paper:
- Name, program, year, and contact details of the author(s)
- Title of the paper
- Name, workplace, position, and contact details of the supervisor.
- In the case of student(s) with special needs, requests to facilitate participation in the conference.
- The section of the TDK conference in which the author(s), in agreement with the supervisor, would like to be included: (1) Data Science and Research Methodology; (2) Minority Policy and Cultural Anthropology, (3) Economics, (4) International Studies, (5) Social Studies, (6) Sociology. In case of uncertainty, more than one section may be indicated.
The titlepage of the paper should NOT contain the name of the author(s) or the name of the supervisor. The titlepage should ONLY include the title of the paper, the program and year of the author(s) (e.g., BA in Sociology, 2nd year) and a code-word to identify the paper (e.g., "Owl").
THE TDK CONFERENCE and PRE-REGISTRATION
Date: 22 May 2025
Venue: The Szombathely Campus of the Faculty of Social Sciences (Savaria University Center)
Deadline of pre-registration: 6 March 2025
This semester, the TDK conference will be held on the Szombathely campus, instead of the Budapest one, in a hybrid format.
The Faculty – with the support of the National Talent Program – can provide accommodation for a limited number of speakers and jury members from Budapest who wish to attend the conference in person (21-22 May, breakfast included), as well as catering on the day of the conference. Travel can be financed individually at a reduced rate with a country pass (országbérlet).
Accommodation can be arranged for those who indicate their intention to attend the conference in person by 6 March. LINK TO PRE-REGISTRATION (requires ELTE e-mail address)
- The pre-registration does not apply to students studying in Szombathely; they register in the usual way until 22 April.
- Those students studying in Budapest who do not pre-register by 6 March but submit a paper by 22 April can, of course, attend the conference either in person or remotely (through Teams), but faculty-funded accommodation will only be available if someone cancels her/his in-person attendance.
- If more people pre-register than can be funded, those who pre-register earlier will have priority.
At the TDK conference, participants are expected to present their research in 15 minutes, and to reflect on the opinion of a reviewer, which they have received beforehand.
Students can qualify for the national TDK conference (OTDK) by participating at this local one.
