The Doctoral School of Sociology and the Institute of Political and International Studies cordially invite you to the open lecture by Professor Trevor Stack titled Effective Democracies for Just Transitions.

Can we be still hopeful about Western democracy’s global advance, or does it seem like a fantasy in 2022? What contemporary challenges threaten the “transition to democracy” today? How do these very same challenges affect green transition?

These and some more similar questions will be addressed by Trevor Stack’s (University of Aberdeen) open lecture, in which he will argue that researchers should grasp the challenges threatening the “transitions to democracy” and imagine fresh prospects for effective democracies, comprehending diverse experiences and knowledges, including local ones, especially concerning peace and green transitions.
