ELTE Faculty of Law, ELTE Faculty of Social Science, and ELTE Digital Autocracy Research Group are organizing an international conference on the most pressing issues of the digital age, with the participation of renowned Hungarian and foreign lawyers, political scientists, and social scientists.

The English-language conference titled "Confronting Technofeudalism and Digital Authoritarianism: Challenges and Solutions for the European Regulation" focuses on the power role of online platforms, the regulation of artificial intelligence, and the spread of digital authoritarianism. Speakers are coming from Hungary, Denmark, Bulgaria, Romania, Israel, the Czech Republic, Austria, Spain, the UK, Korea, Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ireland, the USA, and Turkey. The opening lecture will be delivered by Alfred C. Yen (Boston College), who analyzes the functioning of the internet through the metaphor of "technofeudalism."

During the two-day event, topics such as the illusion of online freedom, democratic control of algorithms, dilemmas of regulating social media, and possibilities for combating disinformation will be discussed. The event aims to initiate an international scientific dialogue about the future of digital rule of law and highlight how new technologies shape the relationship between the state, society, and the individual.
