On January 26, 2024 (South Africa–Israel), the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued a provisional order recognizing the plausibility that Israel by its actions in the Gaza Strip as of October 7th, 2023 is committing acts that violate Palestinian rights protected by the 1948 Genocide Convention and recognizing that there is a real and imminent risk that Palestinians may suffer irreparable harm to their Convention-protected rights.
The upcoming discussion is seeking answers to the following questions related to the provisional order:
- What are the possible developments and legal consequences of this interim order?
- What is the role of other states?
- How can peace be achieved?
