1. Basic mathematics: graphs and properties of functions, system of equalities and inequalities, logarithm rules, power rules, basics of analytical geometry |
Required language competencies |
Minimum level of language proficiency: B2.1 Certification of English knowledge (both written and oral): IELTS Score: 5.5 or TOEFL IBT Band: 46-59 or Cambridge English Scale Score: 162. If the applicant is unable to prove their knowledge of English with any of the above certifications, he or she must participate in a Skype interview or attend a prearranged interview (either in Hungary in person or on an on-the-spot admission abroad) organized by the Faculty and/or its delegates. The interview also seeks to assess the general and professional knowledge and interest of the applicant. Any letter of acceptance issued by the Faculty of Social Sciences is based on the verified fact that the applicant's command of English has been assessed; therefore, they are considered eligible to pursue their higher studies at the institution. If the applicant can prove that they competed their former education in entirely in English by submitting a notarized attestation and a detailed academic transcript, no proof of language knowledge will be required throughout the admission process. |

Application / examination procedure |
The application starts on the online application system (apply.elte.hu). Students need to register in the system, fill in the online application form, upload the required documents and follow the instructions during the application process.

Procedure of the entrance examination: Based on the results of the applicants and the annual capacity, the faculty decides the lowest accepted score for admission. Besides reaching the lowest accepted score for admission, a successful oral entrance exam is perquisite of getting admitted. |

Skype interview |
The oral entry (Skype) interview to apply for the BA program in Applied Economics at the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) has two parts. The department verifies the applicant’s 1) basic mathematical skills 2) reading comprehension skills. 1) In the first part of the interview the applicant has to solve a few mathematical problems in the thematic areas enumerated below. 2) In the second part of the interview the applicant has to read a short text (typically a newspaper article or a web post) with economic content. Afterwards he or she has to summarize the article and answer a few questions concerning the text. Required thematic areas in Mathematics
Applicants may receive points for the skype interview on a scale from 0 – 100 points. Applicants, who do not receive at least 50 points, will not be considered for admission. |
